Pursuing Equitable and Community-Oriented Urban Planning

I’m an urban planner and advocate for equitable, community-driven design—with a deep love for everything urban. I hold a Master of Science in Urban Planning from Columbia GSAPP and bring experience in land-use policy, heritage preservation, spatial analysis, and inclusive public engagement.

Having grown up in Toronto, Shanghai, and Beijing, and most recently lived in New York City, I’ve seen firsthand how attracting the creative class can produce vibrant, diverse cities. But I’ve also witnessed how inequitable development can displace communities, erase cultural heritage, and fuel gentrification and cyclical inequality. I believe neighbourhoods shouldn’t have to choose between economic growth and the preservation of their identities.

My work has taken me from mapping land-use trends in historic Chinatowns across North America to designing housing policy recommendations for migrant communities in Newark. I specialize in translating complex planning data into actionable, accessible tools—using ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, and community engagement frameworks—to help shape just, resilient urban futures.
